juuna vsPlausible.

Plausible got a lot right. A script measured in hundreds of bytes, no cookies, open source, and a dashboard you can read at a glance. If what you need is web stats, it is an excellent choice and this page will not talk you out of it.

juuna answers a different set of questions: who does what inside your product, where they get stuck, and how fast it feels. Same privacy instincts, delivered as a dedicated instance per customer rather than shared cloud.

Their case

Choose Plausible if…

  • You want the lightest possible script and clean web stats, nothing more.
  • Open source matters to you, or you want to self-host on your own terms for free.
  • Pageviews, referrers, goals and a few custom events answer every question you have.
  • You prefer a lower entry price for a small site on shared EU cloud.

Ours

Choose juuna if…

  • You need to watch sessions, not just count them. Masked session replay and click, scroll and attention heatmaps are on every plan.
  • You need user-level analytics: identify, retention cohorts, DAU/WAU/MAU stickiness and user flow. Cookieless aggregate counting cannot produce those.
  • You want performance in the same place as traffic: Core Web Vitals p75s per page, measured on real visits.
  • You want single-tenant isolation without running servers. Your own machine and Postgres, operated for you.

II

The real difference

Both products call themselves privacy-first, and both mean it, differently. Plausible collects almost nothing, aggregates it, and stays light. juuna collects what a product team needs, masks and prunes it aggressively, and keeps each customer’s data on hardware nobody else touches.

Pick by the questions you ask. Plausible answers “how many people visited, and from where” beautifully. juuna is built for “where do users get stuck, what do they actually do, and how fast does it feel”.

Asked and answered

Is juuna heavier than Plausible on my site?
Barely. juuna’s tag is 1.0 KB gzipped against Plausible’s sub-1 KB, and the click, scroll and Web Vitals capture is a separate 1.9 KB file the tag fetches only if you switch one of them on. Both are rounding errors next to a single image on your page. juuna’s tag has no dependencies and never throws into your app.
Can I self-host juuna like Plausible CE?
No. juuna is sold as a managed dedicated instance: you get the isolation self-hosters want without operating anything. If self-hosting is a hard requirement, Plausible CE is a fine answer.
Does juuna track people across sites?
No. The visitor identifier is first-party, random, and never crosses sites. juuna has no ad network and no data broker relationships.
